10 Stars Who Were in Commercials Before They Were Famous

Everyone has to start somewhere, and for many celebrities that means commercials. Sure, we fast forward through ads on our DVR now, but who knows what future stars we’re missing? Don’t believe us? Just check out the famous faces in these spots from days gone past.

Ian Somerhalder

The Vampire Diaries’ Ian Somerhalder plays the devilish Damon now, but back in the day he played Prince Charming in a Mastercard commercial. Priceless!

Aaron Paul

Before Aaron Paul dabbled in meth on Breaking Bad, he was a fiend for Corn Pops in a cereal commercial. Parents just understand... our need for hydrogenated soybean oil!

Jennifer Lawrence

In her acceptance speech for Outstanding Female Actor in a Leading Role at the 2013 SAG Awards, Jennifer Lawrence gave a shoutout to the part that earned her a SAG card: a commercial for the MTV show My Super Sweet 16. We miss that show.

Kristen Stewart

She may be best known for playing Twilight’s Bella — a human who rides around in Edward Cullen’s hot cars — but Kristen Stewart was a fan of luxury automotives from an early age. She starred in a Porsche commercial as a little girl who would deliberately miss the bus so her dad would drive her to school. Next time, make her walk, Pops.

Channing Tatum

Channing Tatum goes to extreme lengths to do the Dew in a 2002 Mountain Dew commercial. No abs were filmed in the making of this ad, unfortunately.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

A sassy young Joseph Gordon-Levitt made sure his workaholic father got something delicious (if not nutritious) in the morning in this ‘90s Pop Tarts spot. At least give him the ones with frosting, JGL!

Sarah Michelle Gellar

Who knew a four-year-old Sarah Michelle Gellar could cause such a controversy? McDonald’s sued Burger King over this commercial, where the adorable future vampire slayer calls out the rival chain for its smaller burgers.

Brad Pitt

Wow. Pringles knew what it was doing when it cast a (shirtless) Brad Pitt — and lots of other tan, blond people — in a commercial for the chips in a can.

Paul Rudd

Before he won our hearts for forever in Clueless, Paul Rudd plugged in to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Sadly, none of the video game-obsessed guys we knew in the ‘90s were this cute.

Mila Kunis

This takes us back. Here we thought Mila Kunis came out of nowhere to win a role on That ‘70s Show, but it turns out she’d previously shilled for Lisa Frank. If we ever meet her, we’re totally getting her to sign our killer whale Trapper Keeper.
