1. In 2005, he screen-tested for the movie role of James Bond.

2. His father is a physics teacher and his mother is a nurse.

3. He’s a skilled juggler as he states: I can juggle, I was bored one summer as a child and I taught myself to juggle. I started with ping-pong balls, and then I moved on to walnuts. I can juggle anything.

4. Graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney in 2002.

5. He changed his surname from O’Lachlan to O’Loughlin.

6. As a child he suffered from asthma, ADHD, and obsessive compulsive disorder.

7. He currently has six tattoos.

8. Was roommates with Jonathan Rhys Meyers in New York City during the filming of August Rush.

9. Alex has appeared in TV commercials for Libra Tampons, Mitsubishi Automobiles and Toyota Automobiles.

10. Alex enjoys both movies and books about Vampires. His favorites are Bram Stoker's Dracula, The Hunger, The Lost Boys, and Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles.
