From the little we’ve heard about the 100th episode (the cast and crew is staying impressively tight-lipped about the plot), we know that it will include many familiar faces from seasons past. This is one of the main reasons we think Klaus will be returning for the 100th episode: because everyone else is. This episode is allegedly for the fans, and it’s hard to imagine a fan-friendly episode of TVD wouldn’t include one of the show’s most popular characters ever.
Here’s the thing: the fact that this episode is returning so many dead (like, really dead) characters, makes us wonder if it won’t be heavy on the flashbacks. This theory is only further supported by the news that it is both Katherine-centric and is titled “500 Years of Solitude” (aka an allusion to Katherine’s 500-year existence). We think the episode might tell the story of Katherine’s life, and most of that has been prior to present-day. Klaus and Katherine have known one another a long time. There’s a good chance that, though Klaus may appear in the 100th episode, it will be in flashback form. Though this is kind of a bummer, it will be interesting to learn more about their dynamic over the years. Klaus chased Katherine across the world for centuries, determined to punish her for turning herself vamp and making her doppelganger blood useless to him. Were they enemies that entire time? We want to know the deets!
Though Klaus has been busy in New Orleans what with all of the power plays, biting betrayals, and baby drama, he still has a strong connection to Mystic Falls. No, we’re not talking about the town’s picturesque square, nor its penchant for costume balls, we’re referring to one Caroline Forbes. The more disconnected Klaus becomes from his family and frenemies in the French Quarter, the more we expect him to snap and pay a visit to his favorite Vampire Barbie — if only for the dose of honesty Caroline is always ready and willing to give. Let’s face it: Klaus has lost perspective, and most of his allies with it. A field trip out of town might do him a world of good. Given that the 100th episode seems to be teeming with visits from other cast members past, we wonder if TVD might save Klaus’ return for another, less busy episode. After all, if he’s going to come back, he deserves some serious scene-age. And his return makes sense outside of some scheme whipped up for the 100th episode, unlike many of the other former TVD characters who will presumably be back for Episode 11.
