Pretty Little Liars 100th Episode: Spencer Goes Red, White, and Blue (PHOTO)
Costuming can give us a lot of insight into a TV character — and the Liars are no different! Check out what American-themed outfit Spencer (Troian Bellisario) is wearing for the 100th episode of Pretty Little Liars, and speculate along with us about what it might mean for her character and the show.
Spencer is stable. Director Norman Buckley shared a snapshot of Troian from the set, and she’s looking very red, white, and blue. The character is wearing a blue-and-white starred sweater and a red scarf. “Spencer is so patriotic,” Norman captioned the pic, and we can’t help but agree. We also can’t help but notice that Spencer seems to be back in control of her pill abuse issues she has battled in the past. A distraught Spencer tends to be a more casually dressed Spencer. There are fewer colors, and less overall coordination. We think Spencer’s outfit means the brainiac has finally pulled herself out of her most recent downward spiral, especially if we take the jungle-themed outfit she wears in an earlier Season 5 episode. (Heck, that one she even coordinates with Aria!)
A possible Fourth of July theme. If Pretty Little Liars airs the first five episodes of the fifth season without any breaks, then the 100th episode will air on July 8th. Might the ep be Fourth of July-themed? Because that would be awesome. Not enough TV shows use the national holiday as a plot device. Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas get all the attention, but the Fourth of July has so much potential. It is literally explosive. Tell us “A” doesn’t want to take advantage of that. It would also be a cool way to make the 100th episode that much more special, and to bring the Rosewood residents together for some kind of celebration. We know we’ll be getting a Christmas episode in Season 5. Will we also get one set on the Fourth of July? Alas, the one major obstacle that stands in the way of an Fourth of July episode is the fact that, until further notice, the Liars are still in high school. The show seems reluctant to let them graduate and, last time we checked, the Fourth of July fell after school let out for the summer.
What do you think of Spencer’s patriotic outfit? Do you think the 100th episode might take place on the Fourth of July? Sound off in the comments below!
