The Hollywood Reporterreports that the 100th episode will see Ali back at school, and it won’t just be Ali dealing with the difficulties surrounding that experience. "Lucas, Paige, Noel Kahn, everybody who was tangled under her web" will be adjusting to Ali’s return, specifically questions like these: ‘Do we get sucked back in? What do we do? How do we deal with it? That's what's going to be interesting to see how it plays out. Does this group need a leader? Does this group want a leader?’” Needless to say, we can’t wait for the tornado that is Ali’s return to the Rosewood community.
Executive producer Joseph Dougherty added: "Season five has a lot to do with figuring out allegiances in the new dynamic and how Rosewood is going to function when Ali comes back. It's going to be about who you can trust."
Can the Liars trust Ali? Do they want to? Executive producer Oliver Goldstick discussed some of the issues the Liars specifically will be struggling with regarding Ali’s return: "Their friendships will be challenged and [there will be] a tectonic shift in their relationship because Alison wants to assume that [leadership] position. And they're saying, 'We don't really need that anymore. We're a democracy.' Their government has changed in her absence. We are inspired by that when we tell stories through that lens."
How do you think Ali’s return will affect the people of Rosewood? How will it affect the Liars as a group? Sound off in the comments below!
Catch the Season 5 premiere of Pretty Little Liars on Tuesday, June 10 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC Family.
