Vampire Diaries 100th Episode Spoilers: Final Scene Is One of the “Best Twists Ever”

With the 100th episode of The Vampire Diaries less than a week away, we’re hungry for any hints we can garner concerning the much-anticipated ep. Luckily, E! Online has a slew of spoilers related to the big episode. What did they just dish about Season 5, Episode 11 (“500 Years of Solitude”)?

Get ready for some hoop skirts and bad hair, friends! (Just kidding, Stefan — we love your 19th century ‘do!) TVD is flashing back in the 100th episode, and it sounds like it’s going to be epic. From the looks of Paul Wesley’s behind-the-scenes snapshots, at least one of those flashbacks will take us back to horse-and-carriage times, or as we better know it: 18th century Mystic Falls. We’re guessing this will be one of many peeks into the past. We know from the episode synopsis that Katherine “remembers the traumatic night in 1490 when she gave birth to the daughter who was immediately taken from her.” And we know from the casting of a young Nadia that we will also see Katherine’s daughter when she is a child, so we’re expecting flashbacks galore!

Also on the docket a scene featuring the entire cast. According to E! Online, it will be hard not to crack a grin during it — perhaps, they’re referring to the reminiscing of Katherine’s most notorious actions. We could see how that could take a darkly comedic turn — especially if Katherine is there to snarkily comment on her decision-making.

What has us most intrigued about the news outlet’s spoilers, though, is this tantalizing tidbit: “As for the final scene? One of the series' best twists. Ever.” Given that TVD is twistier than a pretzel doing yoga, that’s saying something. CW boss Mark Pedowitz expressed a similar sentiment about the big episode, telling those gathered at the TCA Press Tour: “You might be surprised.” Bring it on, TVD!

What do you think the surprise ending might be? And does it have anything to do with a flashback? Share your theories in the comments below!
