The Vampire Diaries 100th Episode Title Revealed! “500 Years Of [SPOILER]”

The Vampire Diariess cast and crew have been impressively tight-lipped about the details of the 100th episode (aka Season 5, Episode 11). But, now, we have the title of the episode — and we think it reveals quite a bit about the much-anticipated ep!

According to The Futon Critic, the 100th episode is called “500 Years of Solitude,” and seems to be a direct reference to Katherine’s (Nina Dobrev) troubled existence. The human-turned-vampire-turned-human-again was turned in 1492 (yes, the year Columbus sailed the ocean blue), and Season 5 has been exploring her humanity, most notably through her relationships with the few people she has loved in that time (i.e. Nadia and Stefan). We knew that this was a big episode for Katherine, but now it is confirmed in a major way.

This also seems to corroborate our theory that the episode will be a retrospective of sorts of the life of Katherine Pierce. The woman has been given only a few months to live due to her aggressive aging — will the show really kill her off? We hope not, but — if they do — there could be no less grand sending off than the 100th episode. Especially for the character who arguably brought all of these other characters together.

The ep is set to feature many characters from seasons past in “a trip down memory lane,” implying that we will be seeing them in flashback form. Though, there has also been mention of a giant scene including all of the current cast and many a returning player. Could this be a Katherine death scene? Or perhaps her funeral? We shudder at the thought.

Do you think TVD will kill Katherine off? Sound off in the comments below!

The Vampire Diaries airs on Thursdays at 8 p.m. on The CW.
