‘16 & Pregnant’ Is Over For Good — But ‘Teen Mom’ U.K. Is Coming!

Are there no more pregnant teens in America who want to be reality stars?

An MTV executive has just confirmed what is amongst our worst nightmares — new episodes of 16 & Pregnant won’t be happening in the near future, if ever.

“We haven’t really looked at that, to be honest,” Michael Klein, EVP of Original Content, tells The TV Page  of putting out new episodes of the show.

The docu-series hasn't aired since the summer of 2014, which was its fifth (and apparently final) season.

But the silver lining here is there seems to be no end in sight for either Teen Mom OG nor Teen Mom 2, which are currently filming their sixth and seventh seasons, respectively.

“There is a very devoted audience for those series,” Michael adds. “As long as our audience is seeking it, we listen to our audience.”

And there’s more good news where that came from —Teen Mom U.K is still officially happening.

We first heard of the British version of the show in January, and Rebecca Knight, VP of production management and business affairs at Viacom International Media Networks, confirms it’ll be premiering across this pond this November.

So, what will the spin-off look like?

“We don’t want to go too far away from what the U.S. format is because it’s so strong and successful. We don’t want to make a factual documentary,” she tells WorldScreen.com.

But there will be some key differences; the show will follow five young moms instead of four, and not every girl will be featured in every weekly episode.

“The show is not produced, so we stand back and watch,” she adds. “You are following the lives of several moms as a narrative all the way through the eight episodes.”

Additionally, the cast members will be given phones so they can record themselves when producers aren’t around, so we as viewers can “get under the skin of their emotions, in a place that they feel safe and can express themselves.”
