We're still jaw-dropping over the news that 16 and Pregnant's Nikkole Paulun witnessed a shootout in Detroit and had to be rushed to the emergency room in an ambulance! This gal is currently seven months pregnant with her second child, but it was her 33-week preggo bestie, Sam, who's baby was ultimately put at risk.
Turns out Sam was shoved in the stomach while running away from the violence, and the traumatic event jolted her into preterm labor. As of early morning June 25, Sam's doctors were hoping to stop premature delivery, but it looks like she's already in labor.
"SHE'S DILATING!" Nikkole tweeted in the afternoon, adding "moved to labor & delivery. no baby yet but strong contractions a few minutes apart still."
Luckily, it looks like Nikkole's been able to stay at her friend's side throughout this ordeal, and girlfriend says she feels lucky to be alive.
"Still can't get over what happened last night," Nikkole tweeted while waiting for Sam to go into labor. "I feel extremely blessed to be alive & healthy right now," she added.
Thank goodness Nikkole was unscathed during the shootout (which she claims the Detroit Police Department is covering up). Let's hope this gal manages to stay out of harm's way throughout the rest of her pregnancy, and that Sam's baby is healthy despite the fact that it's premature!
