Gleek Off! Cover Contest: John Cougar Mellencamp’s “Pink Houses”

It turns out the cast members of Glee aren't the only people who do amazing covers of the songs you love... or are completely sick of. (Seriously, can we all collectively decide Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" has been covered enough? Please?!) Each week, we'll choose our two favorite YouTube covers of a song performed that week on Glee, and let you decide which of the two is best! You'll be doing your part to make someone a star... while simultaneously crushing the other person's dreams! (You should be ashamed. How do you sleep at night?) And now... here are the two best covers that we could find. It's time for you to rock the vote! Yes we can!

From "Laryngitis": John Cougar Mellencamp — "Pink Houses"

Get ready to hoist those lighters into the air! You're now entering Cougar Town! The first cover is from KINGRICHARDBAND, and his voice is as memorable as his t-shirt is tight. Who would have guessed that this guy — judging from his mantle — would be such an aficionado of windmill-adorned knickknacks? Turns out that not even Mellencamp fans are immune to the allure of windmill-adorned knickknacks!

Another cover on acoustic guitar, again performed in the living room! This guy — in a video from LawlessR1 — is just wearing socks on his feet, but sometimes, when you're engrossed in a Mellencamp number, you can't concern yourself with such frivolous amenities as shoes. And we wonder what football team this guy is a fan of?

Regardless of which of these two cover versions you vote for, you can be sure that they're both more authentic than the version that Kurt did on Glee last week!
