Glee Wins at the 2010 Creative Arts Emmys, Neil Patrick Harris Nabs Guest Actor Honors
Tonight, August 21, more than a thousand hopeful nominees arrived at the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles for the 62nd Annual Creative Arts Emmys. (This may not be the main event, but it sure is big!) Awards went out in over 60 technical categories — and it should come as no surprise that our own dear Glee ranked among the winners. The musical-comedy series scored honors for Best Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series, and Neil Patrick Harris took home Best Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his hilarious turn as Bryan Ryan, Will's smarmy arch-nemesis. (As a perk, Neil added another statuette to his collection for hosting the Tony Awards. Not too shabby!)
Jane Lynch and Ryan Murphy were also on hand to present the award for Best Casting of a Comedy Series, which (unfortunately) went to Modern Family, not Glee. Kinda harsh to have to give an Emmy to your stiffest competition, no?
Tune in Friday night, August 27, for E!'s edited version of the awards show. Of course, it's only going to whet your appetite for next Sunday's Primetime Emmys, which will air on NBC. Will Matthew Morrison win Outstanding Lead Actor, Comedy? Will Lea Michele win Outstanding Lead Actress, Comedy? Will Glee take top comedy honors? Our fingers are crossed! But no matter what goes down onstage, our fave Glee stars are sure to rock the red carpet.
