DWTS Wins Two Early Emmys But Tom Loses as Best Host
There's just no snuffing out Jeff Probst's Emmy torch. And that's OK with Dancing With the Stars' live host with the most one-liners, Tom Bergeron.
Usually the winner of Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program is announced during the live Primetime Emmy Awards broadcast, which will air this Sunday on NBC. This year the first round of Emmys were handed out Saturday night at the 2010 Creative Emmy Awards ceremony. Jeff and his dimples won their third best host Emmy in a row over the other four nominees: our Tommy B., Phil Keoghan of The Amazing Race, Heidi Klum of Project Runway and — somehow, even though this was the worst season of American Idol ever — Ryan Seacrest.
As a fan tweeted his condolences Sunday to Tom: "@Tom_Bergeron Sorry u lost! U deserved it! Looking for some to 'Gillooly' Probst?" Tom, keeping it classy even in defeat, replied: "@SooperpowerTV Jeff's a friend so I'm happy for him. I feel like a winner every week the checks clear!"
DWTS itself received nine Emmy nominations and picked up a couple of technical awards on Saturday: Outstanding Hairstyling For A Multi-Camera Series Or A Special and Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control For A Series.
DWTS is still in the running for that ultimate mirrorball trophy: The Outstanding Reality Competition award. The sequined-masterpiece is up against The Amazing Race, American Idol, Project Runway, and Top Chef. Keep your fingers crossed for DWTS and watch the drama unfold this Sunday!
