Castle’s audience increased significantly during last night’s third season premiere, and in a new video interview surfacing online today, star Nathan Fillion gives the show’s nascent viewers (and you too, trusty Castle followers) a glimpse into Beckett and Castle’s relationship this time around.
“The audience has an idea of what Beckett was thinking but Castle still doesn’t,” Fillion told an interviewer at this summer’s Comic Con. “With Castle, it’s business as usual. The first season, we saw that Castle blew it. There’s no question. [...] But in the second season, Beckett blew it. Castle’s here trying to do what’s right. He’s trying to be the better man and the bigger man and let Beckett’s heart make the decision. It’s too late for Beckett.”
But Castle’s strategy backfired.
“Castle was trying to do the ‘if you love it let it go’ thing and [Beckett] blew it,” Fillion explain of his character’s motives last season. “So what we have in the third season is...we have two people who should be together who we know want to be together but they are in relationships elsewhere.”
Uh oh. That does not sound promising. Will you be able to bear seeing Castle and Beckett with romantic interests this fall?
