Katherine Heigl is stepping out of her romcom shoes (a sensible flat, perhaps?) and into a sassy, action star’s leather stiletto boots in the upcoming flick One For the Money, based on the book by Janet Evanovich. The novel is part of a best-selling series in which the main character, Stephanie Plum, becomes a female bounty hunter. (This is starting to sound a little too much like The Bounty Hunter and Salt, but we'll play along...) Heigl, who plays Plum, even dyed her hair jet black for the role, a la great action ladies before her, Angelina Jolie and Megan Fox. Says Heigl, "It was super exciting and fun. We had a pretty good time down there in Pittsburgh. I got to wield some big boots and hold guns and be tough — or sort of try to be." Co-star John Leguizamo revealed that Heigl beats him up in one scene, but the former Grey’s star modestly replied, "I don't think I kicked his a**. I think he's being dramatic. I think I just shoved him." Just take the compliment, girl.
We might be looking at the next Bourne Identity franchise — 16 Stephanie Plum novels have been published and Heigl hopes to turn the movies into a something huge. Hmm, maybe she’ll crank out a few, but we don’t think all 16 are in the cards. Who does she think she is, James Bond? Oh, right — she's a top-earning star.
