Gleek Off! Cover Contest: Britney Spears’ “Toxic”

It turns out the cast members of Glee aren't the only people who do amazing covers of the songs we love. Each week, we'll choose our two favorite YouTube covers of a song performed on Glee, and let you decide which of the two is best. You'll be doing your part to make someone a star... while simultaneously crushing the other person's dreams! (You should be ashamed. How do you sleep at night?) Now it’s time for you to rock the vote.

From “Britney/Brittany”: Britney Spears — “Toxic”

First up is a powerful, folk-inflected rendition by meazle. This moving version uses guitar and sometimes-breathy vocals. Sure, we miss that Bollywood-style riff from Britney’s original version, but change isn’t always a bad thing, right?

Here’s a male perspective on the song from doggettbm. This more uptempo version features guitar and another great voice. (If you really missed that Bollywood riff on the last version, it’s in this video, but in an unconventional way.) And who can say no to adorable panda bear T-shirts? (Answer: Not us.)
