Dancing With The Stars

DWTS Season 11, Week 3: Margaret Cho Eliminated

Each week, someone has to reach the end of the Dancing with the Stars rainbow. Let’s look at who had that dubious honor on the Season 11 Week 3 Results Show.

Losers: Margaret Cho & Louis van Amstel

The Rainbow Brite light has gone out. At least Margaret & Louis got to celebrate with feathers, streamers, and gay pride on Monday, because on Tuesday there were only tears and sad swaying.

It wasn't a surprise to anyone to see Margaret go, considering she had the lowest scores of the week, but DWTS tried to drum up some suspense by having Bristol Palin & Mark Ballas also in the final two. Margaret may make bright, colorful, personal statements on the dance floor, but the one who got the last word was the girl with very little emotional range who makes her political statements off the dance floor.

The judges didn't seem to get Margaret & Louis's Story Week Samba. Bruno Tonioli applauded the couple for waving their rainbow flag, but he thought Margaret may have had too many drinks while at the Copacabana. Len Goodman was encouraged at the start, but as the dance progressed she lost her timing and got heavy in her legs. He also didn't get the story. Carrie Ann Inaba got and loved the story, but she felt the dance was so full-on that Margaret lost control. "You unleashed the beast."

But now the beast is back on its leash, sharing space in the DWTS doghouse with The Hoff and Michael Bolton.

Although famous for her stand-up comedy, Margaret had nothing but sincere words of love and gratitude in the end. Brooke Burke asked what she'll take from this experience and Margaret replied, "You know what, I thought the judges were really hard on me, but I think you were hard on me because you could see that I am a dancer for real and I thank you for that. I will take that with me forever, thank you so much."

Tom Bergeron said it was a neat surprise for everyone that she turned out to be a good dancer. Margaret: "I was surprised, because I had the best teacher and the best partner. So thank you for the opportunity to let me dance." Louis returned the affection: "I love her and, I mean, for her to put her heart out on this dance floor, pretty much saying for the rest of the world to just go that vulnerable — I love you and our journey hasn’t finished." For the first time this season, they played a video package with a look back at the departing couple's journey. In their last dance, Margaret & Louis didn't dance so much as tearfully hug to "You Can't Always Get What You Want."
