Vampire Diaries Stars Support Gay Youth in ‘It Gets Better’ Video

In response to the tragic story of Tyler Clementi, a Rutgers University freshman who committed suicide last week, Vampire Diaries stars Ian Somerhalder (Damon), Kat Graham (Bonnie), and Candice Accola (Caroline) are putting their celebrity to good use.

In a new video for the “It Gets Better” campaign — a viral movement meant to reassure gay and questioning youth dealing with societal pressures — the Vampire Diaries stars appear with Anne Hathaway, No Ordinary Family stars Julie Benz and Michael Chiklis, and Jenny McCarthy. The celebs are promoting the suicide hotline The Trevor Project (866-4-U-TREVOR), which is toll-free and offers callers contact with trained counselors 24 hours a day.
