Former Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl let a gentle criticism slip in a recent interview with US magazine where she dished (for the tenth time) about her new family with adopted daughter, Naleigh. Says Heigl of her man, "He's a great dad. I didn't expect it. He's such a guy. I adore him, I can't imagine being with another man, but he can be very self-absorbed."
“But not in an ego-maniacal way,” she quickly clarifies. Uh, what?
Sounds like quite the catch she’s got herself there, but Heigl assures fans it’s only that he’s usually “in his own head and unfocused on anything other than his own stuff.” She adds, “So I was really surprised by how on top of it and how connected he is."
Heigl, whose sister was adopted from South Korea, holds adoption near and dear to her heart, and may actually adopt again before she starts having biological children. She says, “We still talk about having biological children as well. I'm not ruling anything out. Adoption has been a part of my life and a part of my family, so it was how I wanted to start."
Her acting career may take a backseat to mommyhood, though. When Naleigh arrived ahead of schedule (and in the middle of Heigl filming Life As We Know It), the Grey’s alum went a little batty. It was "a complete blur," she says. "I had just become a mom....I was all over the place. I was really trying too hard. I was completely bonkers."
Heigl does better when she’s focusing on one thing at a time, saying, "If I spread myself too thin, I'm not a good actor, I'm not a good mother, and I'm just really high-strung — and everybody hates me." Well, she doesn’t have to worry about trying to juggle a Grey’s comeback with motherhood, since most of the people on the show probably don't like her much for rocking the boat during shooting all of last season. We're just saying...
