Glee star Mark Salling’s new album Pipe Dreams drops on October 25, and he wants his fans to know that if they’re expecting something along the lines of the music his mohawked alter ego performs, they’d better brace themselves for something completely different.
“It’s like black and white,” Salling told Wetpaint of shifting his musical sensibilities. “It’s a little darker — there’s some really dark stuff on this record, I’ll tell you right now! It’s dealing with a little bit of political issues, some of it. It’s definitely edgier [than Glee].”
Among his influences: “Thom Yorke of Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, Alice In Chains — that kind of stuff.” And would he like to see Puck break into the kind of songs Salling prefers one day on Glee — maybe even one of his own? “Hell yeah!” he says without hesitation. “But I’ll sing whatever they want.”
