Our favorite noted fashion photographer has been selected as the host of the first ever Global Fashion Awards, sponsored by WGSN. The yet-to-be abbreved (but of course, we'll take it upon ourselves to do so) 2010 GFAs will be held at the Waldorf Astoria in New York on November 10th, honoring "fashion's most inspirational, innovative individuals and businesses from around the globe."
Among the nominees are Harvey Nichols, Net-a-Porter, Topshop, William Tempest, my-wardrobe.com, and Marc Jacobs, all competing for a Global Fashion Award in categories including recognition for design, retail, buying, visual merchandising, store design, marketing, and ethical practice.
We think it's safe to bet no one at Vogue will be vying for the ethical practice award. Barker was chosen as the host based on his success producing and directing fashion films and TV shows such as Ugly Betty, as well as the notoriety he's gained as a judge on America's Next Top Model. We bet the fact that he's absolutely drool-worthy in a suit didn't hurt either.
