This Week’s Obsession: Fun and Flirty Prints

Episode 2.4 featured several unexpected duos crooning together, but it was also chock full of fun and flirty prints. Rachel wore two different skirts covered with hearts, and Mercedes was rocking animal-inspired tops and leggings (though not together, thank goodness!). Prints are huge this season, and you may be wondering how to pull them off.

The key to donning hearts without looking sappy is proportion. Avoid clothing with huge hearts, or with one large graphic. Take your cues from Rachel, and pick fabrics with small prints that repeat throughout the item. They’re a more graceful and grownup take on this girly staple. What could be more fun and flirty than hearts?!

Animal-inspired prints are also everywhere, and Mercedes looked fab in hers. But not everyone feels comfortable in tiger or leopard fabrics. If you’re feeling hesitant, start small. Incorporate a scarf or belt into an otherwise neutral ensemble, or choose a more subtle shade of animal print, like grey. Bold fashionistas will mix and match such materials, but as a rule, stick with one piece of critter material per outfit. Remember, it’s okay to get a little wild!

Here’s where to score your fun and flirty prints on the cheap. We’ve got ‘em in all shapes and styles:
