Air guitar. Smoke machines. Guyliner. And, occasionally, dancing. Dancing with the Stars Rock and Roll Monday had several interesting moments. Here are five we'll still remember next week. And be sure to check out our video version below.
5.Tony apologizes for the judges
Because someone has to. Len told Audrina she was getting on his nerves because she has potential to be a great dancer but she can't get into character. Bruno and Carrie Ann agreed, saying she lacked the intensity and intent of movement in her Paso Doble. In the Celebriquarium, Tony apologized for the judges for missing the intensity Audrina had. He knows the people at home saw it. Tom then added his own apology for the judges, since they're bound to do something else worth apologizing for. Why do we have the judges, again?
4. Brandy needs a cry break
Sometimes when a dancer is at the top of the leader board she has to have a meltdown. Nicole Scherzinger perfected the move last season and last week Jennifer Grey gave it her own spin. Brandy was #1 with the judges last week, so it was her turn this week to feel the pressure. She was frustrated with herself for blanking on certain moves during Tango rehearsals. It made her feel emotional so she walked out on Maks and took a bawl break. "It felt good to cry," she says. Sometimes that's all it takes!
3. Brandy & Maks own Rock n Roll Week
Not only did Brandy hold onto her place at the top of the judges' leader board, she did it twice in one night. She and Maks got top marks for their Tango — with Len even calling frenemy Maks "my hero" — and they also won the dance marathon. DWTS has only held three dance marathons so far: Derek won the Season 9 Mambo Marathon with Joanna Krupa; then Derek won the Season 10 Swing Marathon with Nicole Scherzinger. Maks was close last season, coming in second with Erin Andrews. Derek vs. Maks went to Derek every time last season, but the Maks comeback is happening. He and Brandy won this season's marathon, officially dethroning Energizer Bunny Derek. Is this a sign of things to come?
2. Bristol does — gasp! — really well
It was definitely opposite week on DWTS. Bristol went all out in her Tango. She looked appropriately intense, remembered her steps, and even rocked some air guitar. We were all expecting her to leave last week and figured she'd be a sure bet to leave this week. Now we don't know what's going on.
1. Jennifer is going "downhill"?
Sometimes even walking out for a break doesn't help you. Last week Jennifer & Derek argued and things went south for their Foxtrot. This week they got along like gangbusters and did even worse in their Paso Doble. If they want to blame it on the guyliner, go ahead. Long story short: They had a bad night. As Carrie Ann said, "I don’t know what’s happening. You’re like the chosen one and yet something is going terribly wrong and you’re going downhill." Bad sign.
