The Witches of Eastwick

The title of this week’s ep, “The Witches of Bushwick,” comes from the 1987 film starring Cher, Susan Sarandon, and Michelle Pfeiffer as the titular witches and Jack Nicholson as the devil who seduces them. We think that in this case, “witches” refers to Vanessa and Jenny, and maaaybe stands in for another word you can’t say on TV.

Of course, the “witches” in question aren’t from a pretty little Rhode Island town, but from Brooklyn. Bushwick is a Brooklyn neighborhood on the outskirts of coolsville Williamsburg. It’s not as hip, but contains a lot of hipsters anyway because Williamsburg’s gotten so pricey. We’re fairly certain that the Humphrey loft is actually in Billyburg — Bushwick is for aspiring rock stars, not former ones.

The Lion

What kind of a restaurant is so exclusive that even Blair Waldorf can’t get a table? If such a thing existed, The Lion would probably fit the bill. The Greenwich Village eatery is helmed by head chef John DeLucie, who’s become a culinary superstar and the darling of the downtown set with new twists on simple cuisine, like lobster pot pie and cheesecake in a jar. Which are exactly the dishes DeLucie serves up in person to Blair’s luncheon at Blair’s behest. Who cares about some foundation when your man can summon up such delicacies with a wave of his hand?

The Angel Orensanz Center

What better place to hold a Saints And Sinners party than an actual place of worship? The Angel Orensanz Center’s building started life in 1849 as a synagogue. Like Chuck’s guests, the center, located in the heart of the Lower East Side, has more than one side to its personality: By day, it’s a museum and art gallery; by night it pays its bills as one of the city’s most popular event venues.
