Power Rankings for Glee Season 2, Episode 7: “The Substitute”

Who's ruling the school, and who's hitting sour notes? We rank the major players of Glee based on their performance in Episode 2.7. Who’s coming out on top? Let the countdown begin!

Ranking: 8 (out of 8)
Last week’s ranking: N/A
Here’s why: Okay, so she’s not an official character. But boy, does she take a beating this week! It’s not easy being Lindsay...

Ranking: 7
Last week: N/A
Here’s why: We feel like we’re officially sick of Terri. But if this was truly her swan song, then at least she had one final memorable moment with Will. Saying that the massage that Terri gave him was sexy is like saying that the Harry Potter movies are pretty popular. (In other words, quite an understatement!)

Ranking: 6
Two weeks ago: 4
Here’s why: She lost her tots, but somehow her outrageous prank managed to get Schue reinstated. Plus, Kurt is trying to hook her up with Anthony, who just might be the hottest person in a football uniform since Mark Wahlberg was in that movie Invincible. (Speaking of which, we’re counting down the days until we get to check out Anthony’s abs!)

Ranking: 5
Last week: 4
Here’s why: We’re very curious as to how his relationship with Blaine will continue to develop. For now, we enjoy the two of them spending time together. And we loved the scene where Kurt takes the purse out of his mouth! (What fits in that purse? Like, one tic-tac?)

Ranking: 4
Last week: 3
Here’s why: We weren’t that surprised to learn that Sue’s hero is Nixon (complete with that portrait of him in her office). But we’re not exactly sure why she voluntarily rubs poison sumac on herself. We’ve never heard of anyone causing themselves so much pain, not counting anyone who chose to see the movie Grown Ups in theaters.

Ranking: 3
Last week: N/A
Here’s why: It was nice to see Rachel helping out Schue, and then giving that heartwarming defense of him at the end. Plus, we’re surprised that it’s taken Rachel this long to resort to using a surgical mask. Rachel seems more protective of her voice than anyone else is of a particular body part (save for Will Ferrell and his hand in Zoolander).

Ranking: 2
Last week: N/A
Here’s why: What a week for the sub! She belts an amazing version of “Forget You,” manages to get on Rachel’s good side, and shares a fancy beer with Schue. Granted, Terri is probably in the process of burning her in effigy as we speak, but Holly still did pretty well for herself.

Ranking: 1
Last week: 8
Here’s why: Look who’s on top for the first time this season! Will proved to be as irresistible as ever, with both Terri and Holly wanting to spend more time with the guy. Plus, Sue gives Holly the boot in favor of Will. That sounds like a winning week to us (even if the poor guy did have to endure yet another hair joke!).
