Mama Knows Best: Nina Dobrev’s Mom Helps Her Translate for Katherine

Cute alert! Nina Dobrev’s (Elena) mom has always played an integral role in the starlet’s career — but recently she had a chance to really dip her finger into showbiz by helping her daughter translate for Nina’s (second) character, Katherine.

During the “Katerina” ep on November 11, Nina’s character Katherine was scripted to speak a few lines of Bulgarian — but according to the Bulgarian-born beauty (and fluent speaker), the script was a little off.

“I think the writers had used an Internet translator and it was so funny. All those online translators are never right. So we did it. I translated my own dialogue, but I called my mom just to confirm I was right,” Nina said. Oh, we know what you mean girl — we learned while trying to cheat our way through Intermediate Spanish I. Oops!

As we know, Nina’s got quite a lot on her plate this season, playing both Elena and Katherine in every ep — and she’s working her butt off to get it all done (and quite well, we must add). Essentially, she’s playing four characters: Elena and three different Katherines (pre-vampire, past vampire, and present-day vampire.)

With all that acting, we think Nina could totally pull off her own show — but we’d never give up our Salvatore brothers!
