Steven Tyler and Jennifer Hudson Perform at the 2010 Kennedy Center Honors
Idol judge Steven Tyler and alum Jennifer Hudson wowed the Kennedy Center Honors audience on Friday, paying tribute to honorees Paul McCartney and Oprah Winfrey, respectively. Tyler performed a medley of four Beatles songs for Sir Paul, while Hudson sang a showstopping Broadway tune from the Oprah-produced The Color Purple. We knew Hudson, an Oscar winner, was a class act, but who knew Steven Tyler cleaned up so nice?
Said Tyler during between-song banter, "I've never been prouder to [stand] here on the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and Abbey Road." Clever, Steven! We hope you continue to use geographical humor as an Idol judge.
Tyler joined an all-star group of rock musicians in his tribute to "The Cute One," including No Doubt, Norah Jones, Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl, James Taylor, and Mavis Staples. Other inductees included dancer and choreographer Bill T. Jones, country singer Merle Haggard, and composer Jerry Herman.
With such a star-studded night, we don't know who we envy more: the honorees or the performers!
