America's Next Top Model

What’s the Deal Behind Andre Leon Talley’s Cloaks?

You may have noticed that during every single episode of America's Next Top Model Cycle 15, judge Andre Leon Talley sported different versions of something that looked like a wizard robe and a Snuggie mated. Uh, what was the former editor-at-large of Vogue thinking, exactly?

Relax, it's totally fashion, you guys. The cloak is actually a custom-made Chado Ralph Rucci. Rucci boasts an entire luxury line of cloaks, inspired by 17th century Edo samurai tunics. Duh. While he's well-known in the fashion community for cutting edge creativity, sculptural details, and impeccable construction, Rucci doesn't have much commercial success. Shocker. We assumed a high-fashion Snuggie would do so well.
