Girl, who doesn't? It was a simpler time, the music was feel-good, and girl power was in vogue. As a member of ‘90s girl group Xscape, Kandi carries similar warm, fuzzy feelings towards the decade, and claims it was a better time to be an artist.
“It was a better time in music,” Kandi waxes nostalgic. “I feel like the ‘90s was the time when the labels really got behind their artists, they push their artists, they worked them and really worked that album. Now-a-days it’s all about the first week sales, if you don’t do what your supposed to do the first week then their on to the next and I think that’s lame because a lot of great music is lost that way.”
That explains Kandi's perpetual faith in Kim as an artist, despite her complete lack of creative ability.
So, how did Kandi manage to make a comeback more than 15 years after Xscape exploded onto the scene? Luck, opportunity, knowing how to evolve, and staying relevant. “I just know you gotta make it happen when you can,” says Burruss, whose new album, Kandi Koated, hit iTunes earlier today.
