On January 10, the couple be will exposed on screen — in a special pad and bedroom the Castle crew erected just for the duo. "We find out it's been going on for about eight weeks, so it's still a new thing," Jon Huertas — “who was campaigning hard for the storyline” — tells TV Guide. "Of course we try to hide it from the gang to keep things professional, but it's hard for us to control ourselves."
And a new locale isn’t the only unfamiliar thing we’ll see on the show. Jon has been spending extra hours at the gym trimming up his physique for all the — ahem — nude scenes.
"People are going to be seeing a lot more of me than they've seen — and I'm not just talking about screen time," he says. "For some reason they want us to be naked a lot. With Castle and Beckett not being able to get together, they're relying on our characters to play out the sexual element." Hey — we’re not complaining!
This is the first time the Castle stars will see each other in the buff, despite having worked together for more than three years. Was it awkward? “I was looking forward to it,” Jon tells TV Guide, with a “playful wink.”
Apparently, so is the rest of the cast. "Nathan and Stana are like kids," Jon says. "They're supposed to leave the set when Tamala and I start going at it, but I look over my shoulder and there they are watching and giggling like 5-year-olds." But at least they’re getting their peak on set, ‘cause for now, nobody on the show (minus the viewers) will find out about the little romance for at least a few episodes.
Speaking of romances, Jon also lets us in on one other juicy tidbit: While engagement isn’t in the stars for his character (yet!), Detective Kevin Ryan (Seamus Dever) does pop the question to his gf Jenny on the January 3 eppy. (...Oh, and in an attempt to help Detective Ryan figure out the right way to pop the question, Castle ends up looking right at Beckett to ask her to marry him... in real life!)
