The Latest International Incarnation of America’s Next Top Model: Pakistan
PNTM has a certain ring to it, don't you think? Nah, us either. Luckily the show will be called The Super Model 2011. That's right. The latest country to display their patriotism in the form of a Next Top Model show is Pakistan.
The Super Model 2011 will follow the ANTM format, which the UK, Australia, and Canada have all borrowed for their respective Next Top Model shows. Of course, some of the runway and photo shoot challenges will be tweaked to follow Pakistani cultural guidelines. Twelve girls will be selected to compete as finalists by the judging panel, which includes current top Pakistani model, Natasha Hussein, fashion photog Shani of Pakistani photography duo Guddu, and Shani, and editor-in-chief of Niche Magazine, Pashmina Malik.
The winner will receive a trip to Malaysia, five ready to wear looks from designers, a one year contract with Guddu and Shani, a one year contract with a major cable network in Pakistan, and a Niche Magazine cover shoot.
Auditions will be held in Lahore on December 15, 2010 and the show starts airing in January. How come America's Next Top Model turnover isn't that quick? We take that back. Editing cat fights over a two month period probably takes time.
