The Vampire Diaries

TVD Gets an A on Mid-Season Report Card

This Vampire Diaries hiatus is killer — we know! But there is some good coming out of our Damon withdrawal: It’s giving sites like TV Fanatic time to check out past eppys and shower us with their predictions for 2011. Not as good as say, new episodes, but we’ll take what we can get.

TV Fanatic just made this little mid-season report card public, and we gotta say we agree with most of their commentary (esp. the part where they give The Vampire Diaries an overall grade of A!)

How did they come up with the high mark?

Best Episode: “To Kill or Be Killed” aka the eppy that showed us Katherine and Mason were in cahoots and led to not only his death, but also a ton of new werewolves in Mystic Falls.

Best Character: Damon Salvatore (and not just for his stellar good looks.) That part where he tells Elena he loves her and then compels her to forget? Yeah. That’s classic.

Worst Character: Jeremy Gilbert. TV Fanatic calls him “boring,” but we still like to look at him so no complaints here.

Most impressive cast member: Nina Dobrev. Hands down! The girl has had a crazy intense season so far playing both Elena and Katherine. She transforms from “sweet to mischievous” with the greatest of ease. That takes talent! (We know. It’s an art we’ve been trying to perfect since high school.)

Biggest surprise:
Caroline turning vamp-y. Although she could have easily qualified for worst character if this were, say, last season, this season has proved quite different for the blonde. She’s more self-assured and well, just plain nicer. We like it!

Best addition: Rose. She “helped reveal another human side to our Salvatore sibling.” Don’t get us wrong, we love the supernatural stuff. But sometimes it’s nice to see some real, raw emotion on the show (they do it so well!)

And as for what will happen in 2011? More of the same, please! TVD is “unexpected and suspenseful” and sprinkled with (occasionally scantily-clad) hotties. What more could you ask for?
