Case in point: Ian was in Vegas the night he found out he was set to audition to play Damon. What was he doing there? "My sister, brother-in-law and I have a bad-ass gourmet pizza place [McClain's Pizzeria] near Sun Valley, Idaho," Ian dished to Vegas Magazine. "So we were in Vegas for this cool pizza convention."
After an unsuccessful audition for True Blood (their loss!), Ian had kinda had it with "undead" roles by the time he'd hit Vegas. But he had a 'feeling' about TVD — so he went for it. (Read: He drove all night and nailed the audition the next day.)
Because Ian's last visit to Vegas was food-related (and everybody loves to talk about food), the mag asked him to share his fave places to eat in Sin City and name his fave home-cooked meals. What are they, you ask?
1. Seafood gumbo (roux not too dark) 2. Fresh quail baked in organic asiago/ jalapeño/white-truffle cornbread 3. Winter chili with a bit of chocolate and superground espresso 4. Fried okra with homemade ranch dressing 5. Garlic-stuffed wild venison tenderloin (marinated in milk and olive oil) rubbed with truffle oil
Hm... interesting. Don’t forget to visit Vegas Magazine to get the low down on where Ian likes to dine when he's in town!
