Martha Rodgers: The Castle Character We Should Listen to More
Golden Globe, Schmolden Globe.
OK, so we might be just a little salty Castle didn’t snag any awards this weekend, and we’re still kind of in denial that not everybody is as mad about the show as we are. But, as a sort of consolation prize to all shows-that-should’ve, Guy with a Remote is bestowing his own Golden Remote awards, giving out prizes in some non-traditional categories. How un-creative is “Best Supporting Actress” anyway?
And — just as he should — Guy gave an award to a Castle character, but probably not who you’re expecting. Guy officially crowned Martha Rodgers (Castle’s Mother played by Susan Sullivan) the “Character We Should Listen To More.” While we totes agree that everybody should prob listen to their mother more, here’s Guy’s explanation:
“Susan Sullivan’s colorful character, an actress whose best roles are behind her, may only breeze through each episode for a scene or two, but when the mother of Nathan Fillion’s titular mystery writer speaks, you would be wise to listen.
Consider: ‘Auditions are like men. There’s always another one around the corner.’”
While we concur that Miss Martha is quite the knowledgeable lady (where was she with that golden piece of advice during our last break up?!), we’d like to think Castle is def up there as one of Susan’s best roles.
