Bust out your bikinis and kick the Jersey Shore kids out of town, because the newest installment of the Real Housewives franchise is officially set to take place in Miami.
It looks like the Hotlanta Housewives got a little preview when they headed to MIA for a some sun, rest, and relaxation — aside from Cynthia's nearly cancelled bachelorette party, and NeNe and Kim's never-ending fight, of course.
And, if you thought the unofficial gay housewives of Atlanta were a riot, wait until you see what Miami's cooking up. Elaine Lancaster (née, James Davis) will be the franchise's first self-styled drag queen. You may remember hearing Elaine's name in connection with her famously cross-dressing BFF, Dennis Rodman. She'll appear as both James and Elaine on the show, but won't be featured as an official H'Wife cast member.
Among the Real Housewives of Miami will be magazine editor Alexia Echeverria, and Scottie Pippen's wife, Larsa.
The show narrowly missed being hooked into the Housewives franchise while Bravo execs were debating plugging it as a stand-alone show, but, in the end, Elaine and the gang were welcomed into the Real Housewives family with open talons — um — arms.
With the two newest Housewives series, DC and Beverly Hills, being total snoozefests (well, compared to Atlanta, anyway), we hope The Real Housewives of Miami can break the boring streak and spice things up.
Watch out for RHOM coming to Bravo sometime in the first half of 2011.
