Wetpaint: What’s life been like since the show?
Ty: Dude, it’s been unbelievable, man. It’s been one fire after another. It’s always something going on.
WP: What’s your dating life like these days?
Ty: Dude, I actually am dating a girl, Rachel Bradshaw. She’s a singer-songwriter from Nashville. We met actually on a double-date, so everything’s going good. I’m happy right now.
WP: Bradshaw, as in [NFL great] Terry?
Ty: Absolutely! Terry’s daughter. She’s really cool, man. Funny that the Steelers are going to the Super Bowl this year, so we’ll be going. I’m excited.
WP: Did you feel a connection with Ali?
Ty: You know, I did. To this day, I love Ali to death, and I wish her the best. It got to the point where I knew that our connection wasn’t as good as some of the others’, and things worked out for the best. I think she is one of the most outstanding women I’ve ever met. She’s really cool; I love her to death and hope nothing but the best for her, but she got who she needed to get, so I’m all excited for her.
WP: Do you have a favorite memory from doing the show?
Ty: You know, one of my favorite memories from the show is actually being in Turkey and spending the time that we got to spend together. We got to do the Turkish bath and stuff like that, but I really got to know who she was, and it was fun getting to know who she was. She was an interesting girl, and that just made me realize more that she is with the person she needs to be with.
WP: Do you keep in touch with Ali?
Ty: Absolutely — emails. And I’m in touch with Roberto a bunch. They’re doing really well, and great for them. I keep in touch with everybody, even people from past seasons — that’s what’s great about this. I get to see people that I talk to on email and phone but haven’t met, like Gia and Gwen. I’ve hung out with Peyton — Peyton and Chris came to Nashville with us for a couple weeks. I see all these guys all the time — all the guys from my season — but it’s cool to see the other people from the other seasons.
WP: So how long do you think until Ali and Roberto get hitched?
Ty: I give ‘em probably 7 or 8 more months, I think they’ll be hitched. I think they will be. End of the next summer, I think they’ll be hitched.
WP: And what about you? Any wedding bells in the near future?
Ty: Ah! Me, it’s gonna be a little bit. There are certain career things that need to happen for her, as well as for me.
WP: And she’s a musician, too?
Ty: Absolutely. She’s got the number 18th song on the chart right now, with Jerrod Niemann — he’s a country artist. And it’s called “What Do You Want,” and he is doing very well with the song, and she co-wrote that and sang it with him. So there’s some things she has to do with her career before anything else happens. We want to take things slow; we just want to make sure everything’s right.
WP: How long have you two been together?
Ty: We’ve been dating for about seven months now.
WP: Do you like Terry?
Ty: Christmas was wild. I’m gonna be honest with you — it was interesting. He is as funny in person as he is on TV. He’s probably one of the best guys I’ve ever met in my life.
WP: It’d be weird to have him as a father-in-law.
Ty: Let me tell you — we sat there and we fished, and he’s got lakes out at his cabin in Oklahoma, and we fished with himself and his dad, and we had the best time. And I’ll tell you what, they’re normal guys, and they’re so much fun. It’s a joy being around them. They accepted, just like I imagined they would, and they give me the kooky names…
WP: Such as?
Ty: He calls me Ty-Rod, Jethro — he calls me a bunch of different things. But you know what? I answer to a lot of them, so it’s all good. He’s very nice to me.
WP: Have you met Brad Womack?
Ty: I have not met Brad yet. We have mutual friends, but I have not met him yet. But I look forward to it. He seems like a good guy, and he got a second chance at finding love, and I hope he makes the most of it.
WP: Who do you think he’ll pick?
Ty: You know, my favorite is Emily. She lives in Nashville.
WP: She’s pretty great. Hard not to like Emily.
Ty: She’s a great girl. She’s got a great story, she’s got a great kid. It’s one of those things where, if she’s not the one that he picks, she’ll be the next Bachelorette. She’s America’s sweetheart — just like Ali was. Good for her. She’s a sweet girl – we have mutual friends as well in Nashville — so I’m really excited for her.
WP: You’re not a Michelle fan, I take it?
Ty: Uh, you know… [He pauses.]
WP: It’s like, “Long pause.” [Laughs]
Ty: You’re right. There you go. Enough said!
WP: How’s life been otherwise?
Ty: I am traveling, playing music — just got in from Houston today, playing a private birthday party. But my band and I, we travel around the country, and we’re playing music, and it’s really a relieving feeling, being able to make a living doing something that I want to do. You know, I was in medical sales for a long time — nine-and-a-half years. And knowing that music is something that I’ve always been interested in, loved it, always played — to be able to do it for a living is unbelievable. I love it; I really do.
