Fantasia Barrino Picks Up a Grammy, Adam Lambert and Carrie Underwood Go Home Empty-Handed
Last night’s 53rd annual Grammy Awards ceremony had a whole slew of American Idol people strutting their stuff on the red carpet and — in Ryan Seacrest’s case — working the door to greet A-listers with on-camera interviews. But how about the actual nominees and, dare we say, Grammy winners? Seems Glee was noticeably snubbed, but was the same true for Idol?
Three former Idol-ers were nominated for Grammys last night: Carrie Underwood got the nod for Best Female Country Vocal Performance for “Temporary Home.” Carrie lost to Miranda Lambert but was not in attendance at the awards ceremony. Adam Lambert, of course, was nominated in the Best Male Pop Performance category for “Whataya Want From Me” but lost out to Bruno Mars.
Fantasia redeemed an otherwise trying year by leading Idol-ers with three Grammy nominations for Best R&B Album Back to Me, Best R&B Song for “Bittersweet,” and Best R&B Female Vocal Performance for “Bittersweet,” the latter of which she won.
We’re behind you, Fantasia, and hope the coming year brings only more success!
