David Archuleta Dropped from Record Label

Some less than cheerful news today for one of our favorite American Idol alums. Season 7 runner-up David Archuleta reportedly has been dropped by Jive Records, where he recorded both his debut self-titled 2008 album and last year’s The Other Side Of Down. Archuleta’s second album brought in disappointing numbers, selling only 63,000 units as compared to the sales of close to a million copies of his first album. The rumors started last night on Twitter, and then this morning a spokesperson for Jive records confirmed, saying “David was released from our roster.”

We’re super-bummed to hear this! But on the other hand, we have every confidence that David will bounce back with another recording contract and album. It’s only a matter of time before someone snatches him up!
