Best and Worst Song Performances From Glee Season 2, Episode 13:
Glee manages to pack an insane number of songs into each episode, which means there will always be a few standouts along with the inevitable dud or two. We've narrowed the performances from Season 2, Episode 13: “Comeback” down to the very best and the not-so-great. After all, not every Glee cover can be a bestseller on iTunes!
Best Performance of the Night: “Baby” by Sam We loved how Sam manages to make this Bieber mega-hit his own with his acoustic guitar opening. His vocals inject real feeling into the song, which isn’t always easy with a bubble-gum pop tune. Sure, golden boy’s dance moves are a bit dorky, but what they lack in coolness they make up for in playfulness and pep. Plus, they’re in keeping with the song: After all, the original music video features an improptu break-dancing competition in the middle of a bowling alley. True story.
Worst Performance of the Night: “Sing” by New Directions (and Sue, apparently) Granted, Lauren Zizes’s cover of “I Know What Boys Like” is borderline painful, but that’s sorta the point, right? (Plus, that glimpse of everyone in their underwear makes it all worth it. Hellooo, shirtless Sam and Mike.) Which leads us to this: Maybe Rachel’s right about “Sing” not having what it takes.
We, too, love My Chemical Romance, but there’s something so expected about having glee do a song called “Sing.” On top of that, the performance fails to wow us: Finn’s vocals are a bit rough, and why give Sue a rare chance to exercise her pipes if we can’t even hear her? Of course, the less said about those nonsensical flannel costumes, the better.
