Last night’s American Idolwas the first performance show of Season 10, and most (but certainly not all) of the Top 12 males brought it. Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler gave positive reviews to almost everyone and both were almost moved to tears on several occasions. On the other hand, Randy Jackson was a harder to impress. Remember, the Dawg’s been at this for 9 years longer than the newbies. He saved his praise for true stand-outs like Jacob Lusk and James Durbin.
While we totally respect Randy’s opinion, we can’t help but wonder if he’s getting a little jaded. His critique of Jovany Barreto in particular seemed harsh. Then again, we think Steven and Jen are probably a little swept up in the pageantry of the show. That said, we appreciate that Randy is keeping a more critical eye.
What do you think? After all these years, could His Dawgness be starting to get a little impatient with Idol’s young talent, maybe starting to go a little Simon on us? Or is he just keeping Idol honest by focusing on the music?
