Why Jackson Avery Is the New (Better) Mark Sloan on Grey’s Anatomy
It's official: Jackson (Jesse Williams) hearts Lexie (Chyler Leigh) in a big way, and he told her so on last week's Grey's Anatomy. Our bet is that when Lexie woke up that morning, she never knew that someone would declare himself her next soul mate by the day's end. (Kinda makes us wonder who's gonna lay bare their love for us. Anyone?)
We know that there are thousands if not millions of shippers rooting for Mark (Eric Dane) and Lexie to reunite for the umpteenth time, and we can understand. But let's be real: those two have been on and off again more times than Derek (Patrick Dempsey) and Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) circa Seasons 1 through 4. It's time for Lexie to start anew, and Jackson seems like the perfect reason for her to give love a chance (again). Why? Because he's the anti-Mark.
There are similarities, certainly. Herculean physique — check. Piercing eyes — check. Perma-scruff — check. But cocky demeanor? No. Womanizing streak? No. Questionable morals? No... unless you count that whole shirtless-Teddy-flirting debacle. You see, folks, Jackson Avery is pretty unconcerned with his handsomeness, and when he's not, he's using his hotness powers for good... and for a little self-promotion on the side. Heck, he didn't even think about his cheekbones until Mark (of all people) complimented him on 'em. Jackson Avery is just a down-to-earth guy, a supportive friend, and a fine soul mate prospect. We approve, Lexie.
