Grey's Anatomy

Spoiler: Will Daniel Sunjata Stick Around on Grey’s Anatomy?

Daniel Sunjata, better known as Nurse Eli, Dr. Bailey (Chandra Wilson)'s sultry squeeze, has been sweeping our favorite general surgeon off her feet and whisking her into empty on-call rooms for a few weeks now on Grey's Anatomy, and he recently dished whether or not things were doing to get more serious between his character and Bailey.

"My [involvement] is kind of open-ended," Sunjata hinted of a possible character arc extension. "I may be on until the season finale and possibly next season from what I’m hearing, but it hasn’t been hammered out yet." But, for this season, at least, he says, things between Eli and Bailey will get "a bit more substantive and meaningful." We have waited patiently for seven long seasons for Bailey to find true love. Might Nurse Eli be the one?

Depends on how he did in the musical episode. You can hear a snippet of him singing "How To Save a Life" in the Grey's Anatomy: The Musical Event sneak peek, and he sounds pretty good, but he's only featured in the chorus numbers, including a small part in "Running On Sunshine." Says Daniel of working on the musical ep, "Most of the singing, as it should be, is weighted toward Sara Ramirez, who has vocal cords that have been touched by God. For me, singing was a bit out of my comfort zone. It was an interesting challenge. I hope I don’t fail publicly doing it."

Based on his smooth few bars in "How To Save a Life," we're sure he did more than fine. Tune in on March 31st to hear Nurse Eli and the rest of the gang get their song and dance on in Grey's Anatomy: The Musical Event.
