Best and Worst Song Performances From Glee Season 2, Episode 15: “Sexy”
Glee manages to pack an insane number of songs into each episode, which means there will always be a few standouts along with the inevitable dud or two. We've narrowed the performances from Season 2, Episode 15: "Sexy," down to the very best and the not-so-great. After all, not every Glee cover can be a bestseller on iTunes!
Best Performance of the Night: "Landslide" by Holly, Santana (Naya Rivera), and Brittany (Heather Morris) The Warblers' cover of "Animal" almost prevailed — for two reasons: We could actually hear Kurt (Chris Colfer) over Blaine (Darren Criss), and our boy's crazy facial expressions cracked us up. It was also an unusual song selection, which you can't really say about "Landslide." "Landslide" has been performed by a slew of different artists — everyone from Dixie Chicks to The Smashing Pumpkins. Saying there aren't enough covers of the hit Fleetwood Mac song is like saying there aren't enough superhero movies in theaters.
That said, this is Gwyneth's best song of the night, and those amazing harmonies finally give Santana an opportunity to shine. It is the most emotional song of the episode, and we almost lost it when Santana starts to get choked up. It's like, "Santana has real feelings? Who knew!"
Worst Performance of the Night: "Kiss" by Will (Matthew Morrison) and Holly The difficulty in covering a beloved classic like "Kiss" is that it's tough to replicate something that's already so great. Schue and Holly’s falsetto voices just aren’t up to snuff, making us wonder why the show didn’t try to make this song its own. Turning it into a tango was an attempt at something different, but the choice felt forced and out-of-place.
Let's face it: The only parts of this performance that are truly memorable are Gwynie's legs (yowza!). And by the way, don't even bother trying to convince us that "Afternoon Delight" deserves this slot. You'll be wasting your time — that performance is a hoot!
