Hines Ward Spills on Steelers Pride and Kym Johnson’s Help
Hines Ward & Kym Johnson are a cute couple, no? Just sayin’. They tied with Petra Nemcova & Dmitry Chaplin for the top spot on the leaderboard on Dancing with the Stars Season 12, Week 3. It was personal story week and Hines e-mailed the L.A. Times as a guest blogger to discuss what it meant to Samba for Mama.
Here are two highlights from the Pittsburgh Steelers’ wide receiver’s full Q&A.
On choosing to wear black and gold for his Samba: “Yes, this week was a personal dance week for us so I had more input into the outfit for this week. Kym Johnson was really good about wearing the black and gold. She is awesome. She knows that the black and gold is a big part of who I am and how important this dance was for me to do well for my mom. It was all about honoring her for her sacrifice for me. I hope I made her proud.”
On which Steelers teammate would do the best and worst on DWTS: “I definitely think our running back, Rashard Mendenhall, would do the best in this kind of dance competition. He has a little dance experience and is pretty good, so I've heard. As far as who is the worst, that's hard to say. Had I not been in this competition and seen for myself, I probably would have said I would be the worst. But given hard work and dedication to practice, I think any one of my teammates would do well.”
He’s so diplomatic! Then again, it’s probably not safe to throw one of your gigantic teammates under the bus in a public forum.
