Top 6 American Idol Theme: Songs of Carole King

Next week is stacking up to be another awesome line-up of themes and guest performers. The Idol Top 6 finalists will be tasked with singing from the catalog of Carole King, whose classic album Tapestry contains the hit songs “I Feel the Earth Move,” “It’s Too Late,” “So Far Away,” “You’ve Got a Friend,” and “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.”

It will be very interesting to see who picks what from her song list. A little hint: Lauren Alaina was burned by picking an Aretha Franklin classic before, and Aretha has covered “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.” But that song is just too big a hit for the Idols to pass up entirely, so look for Haley to sing that one!

Also performing on the Idol stage next week will be Bruno Mars and Crystal Bowersox. Wow, that should be some show. Would hoping for a MamaSox/Carole King duet be too much to hope for? It’s not unheard of that Idol will bring out a surprise guest, you know. As in, remember when Stevie Wonder showed up out of the blue? And a little bird told us that Carole and Steven Tyler are friends… Just saying!
