Cat Deeley Returns to Her British Roots for Royal Wedding
It's not easy being Cat Deeley — this girl is literally everywhere! For the past few years, the SYTYCDhost planted temporary roots in Los Angeles, but the UK native never felt quite at home, especially when it came to fashion.
"[The L.A.] aesthetic is very different," explains Cat, who is currently back in London hosting So You Think You Can Dance UK and prepping for the Royal Wedding. "In the USA, fashion is more standard and people look quite similar. People think I am a bonkers English woman as I tend to do my own thing."
Thanks to a strong sense of self and solid work ethic, Cat was never tempted to conform to the L.A. look. Instead, she was able to find a happy medium, infusing her quirky British style with a bit of laid-back, American flair. “The vintage stores are amazing in L.A.," she gushes. "Seriously incredible. I remember I once found a gorgeous maxi dress for £45. And then I got a silver dress for £10.”
So, will Cat bring her new transatlantic style to Westminster Abbey when she co-hosts CNN's Royal Wedding coverage live on April 29? Nope. For this momentous event, it's all about hometown glory. "I’m going to wear a smart dress by Mulberry. I wanted to wear a British designer on the big day," Cat explains. As for the future Queen, Cat has similar sentiments: "... I think she [Kate Middleton] should wear a British designer. She should tip her hat to the creative genius in this country and champion the talent of UK fashion."
We couldn't agree more and can't wait to see these British beauties on the big day!
