Dancing With The Stars

Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff Talk About the Coat Trip

Dancing With the Stars pro Karina Smirnoff is physically fine after tripping over Ralph Macchio's coat during their Season 12 Paso Doble. But, as she told On the Red Carpet Monday night, she's worried about the repercussions of their relatively low score of 24 out of 30.

Karina: "I am worried about tomorrow. I'm always worried about tomorrow. I'm OK. One bruise more, one bruise less. It's all fine."
Ralph: "Now she feels like I feel every day — in pain."

Although you can see the guilt and sadness on Karina’s face in the video, she and Ralph are not blaming anyone or anything for the mishap.

Karina: "No, I wish it was something that, like, a big mistake. But I just slipped on a coat. It has never happened in dress rehearsal, in camera blocking, nothing."

Ralph explains that Karina had a futuristic Matrix-like vision for their dance characters and that's why they wore the long coats. When they practiced, they were more concerned with Ralph stepping on the coat in the moment that he came up from the floor, and it was right before that moment that she slipped on his coat.

Their score of 24 out of 30 puts them second from the bottom, just above Chris Jericho & Cheryl Burke, who received a 22 out of 30 for their Tango. It also makes Ralph & Karina right below Kendra Wilkinson & Louis van Amstel, who climbed out from two weeks at the bottom with a 25 out of 30 for their sexy Samba.

Next week, if Ralph & Karina make it, the only change they plan to make is not to fall. Other than that, they thought they were on the right track.

Do you think they’ll make it through tonight, with fan support and maybe some sympathy votes?
