Cat Deeley’s Just a Down-Home Girl in Designer Duds
You know that girl from high school who typed up her class notes and nursed heartbreak with extra credit? Apparently, she grew up to be Cat Deeley.
Pumped for the Royal Wedding, which she covered for CNN with Piers Morgan and Anderson Cooper, the So You Think You Can Dancehost regaled an interviewer from The Guardianwith heartwarming stories of childhood fun — frog catching.
Though it might be hard to picture Cat hunting down slimy creatures now, her transformation from muddy kid to poised and polished adult might not be totally complete; this week, in a moment of botched depth perception, she smacked her face onto a plane's overhead bins, leaving her a little black and blued.
Maybe the conversation drifted to amphibians and clumsiness because Cat doesn't have any drama to rehash. When asked how she'd handle a bad break up, she replied she'd just "throw herself into work." But even a low-key personal life fails to keep the tabloids at bay.
While horseback ridding, she encountered a sneaky paparazzi whose frantic snapping she might have been able to ignore, but seriously unnerved the horses.
"There have been people killed up there — if a horse falls on you there, you're dead or you break your back and they have to helicopter you out. You're right on the edge of a hill. The photographers refused to stop so the instructor got off and hit them!"
A paparazzi brawl on her behalf? Now, that's something that could excite tabloid writers wondering when hard worker Deeley will give them something to write about.
