The Princess and the Frog
This week’s episode takes its title from the 2010 Disney film The Princess and the Frog, which takes place in 1920s New Orleans. Like this episode of Gossip Girl, it’s a modern retelling of a fairy tale. It’s unclear who the frog is meant to be in the Gossip Girl version, as there are plenty of candidates who display toadlike behavior this week.

Monaco Royal Family
Although there’s no Prince Louis, there really is a Prince Albert of Monaco — but the Monagesque royal family is hardly the snobbish pillar of rectitude portrayed on Gossip Girl. Prince Albert, son of Prince Rainier and American movie star Grace Kelly, has two children out of wedlock. He’s never been married, so when he dies the crown will pass to his sister Princess Caroline and then to her son Andrea. Caroline and her sister Princess Stephanie have collected their own share of scandals, including affairs, divorces, and failed pop star careers. This is a family who would be glad to have a Waldorf. She’d totally class up the joint.

Housing Works Bookstore
When the downtown branch of the Upper East Side schemers need to confront each other about their misdeeds, what better place than SoHo’s Housing Works Bookstore? It’s in a cool part of town, it’s got a great selection of used books, and all proceeds go to a good cause. If you want to grab a cup of coffee where Charlie (Kaylee DeFer) sells out Vanessa (Jessica Szohr), head to Crosby Street just below Houston. Call ahead before you show up, though. It’s often closed for film shoots. Like, say, for episodes of Gossip Girl.
