American Idol Top 4 Best and Worst Performances: We’re Gaga for Leiber & Stoller!

Last night’s Top 4 show had a little bit of this and a little bit of that, thanks to the dual themes of “Inspirational Songs” and “The Music of Leiber & Stoller.” If you ask us, though, the most inspiring performances of the night were two songs by Leiber & Stoller (was it Lady Gaga’s mentoring skills?), while one of the inspirational songs left us feeling, well... less than inspired.

She (Who Has Something!): Just like last week, Haley Reinhart channeled her anger at the judges into a dramatic, intense, and flat-out fabulous performance. “I (Who Have Nothing)” was an absolute stunner... as was that dress! We think Haley had a lot more than “nothing” goin’ on.

Potent Potion: While his first performance — a competent cover of “Don’t Stop Believin’” — was certainly enjoyable, it was James Durbin’s second offering that really got us on our feet. His rockin’ take on “Love Potion No. 9” was a tasty cocktail of humor and sex appeal.

What About “No”? It must say something about Haley that she managed to have both one of the best and the worst performance last night. While her take on “Earth Song” wasn’t truly terrible, the judges — as much as we hate to admit it — may have had a point: It just wasn’t really suited to her.
