Dancing With The Stars

Sneak Peek: Stevie Nicks, Pitbull, Favorite Freestyles All On DWTS, Week 9 Results Show

ABC is calling the Season 12 Semifinals the toughest ever on Dancing With the Stars. It’s no joke. The final four have to do three dances on Monday's Week 9 Performance Show, which is not the usual plan for this point in the season.

On Tuesday, one popular couple will get the axe, leaving us with three finalists for Week 10.

Here’s what else you can expect to see on Tuesday:

Freestyle Special: We’ll have another two hours of DWTS, starting with Dancing with the Stars Live: Freestyle Special, from 8 to 9 PM. The Freestyles are the “make or break” dances the top three have to perform in the Finals. This live special should be fun, since DWTS alums Apolo Anton Ohno (Season 4 champion), Donny Osmond (Season 9 champion) and Warren Sapp (Season 7 finalist) will be there to provide colorful commentary on their memorable individual Freestyle routines.

Also, DWTS pros and the dance troupe will perform two medleys to some of the best music from past Freestyles. And this is great — Season 2 winners Drew Lachey & Cheryl Burke will also be back to perform their fan favorite Freestyle, “Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy.” Everyone loves that routine!

Stevie Nicks sings two songs: On the usual Results Show from 9 to 10 PM, Stevie Nicks will perform two songs — the iconic “Landslide,” accompanied by DWTS pros Tony Dovolani and Cheryl Burke; and the new single “Secret Love,” accompanied by Dmitry Chaplin, Anna Trebunskaya, Peta Murgatroyd, and Damian Whitewood. It’ll be nice to see Damian again! Remember when he danced with Pamela Anderson on DWTS Season 10? Where the heck has he been?

Pitbull performs: Also during the Results Show, Pitbull will perform his hit single, “Give Me Everything,” featuring Ne-Yo and Nayer. It’s not clear who will be dancing to this number, unless it’s them and their own dancers. They do that sometimes.

Spotlight Segment #3: This week’s powerful “Spotlight Segment” features the moment of a lifetime for 13-year-old Tayla Kelley, as she performs to “Bulletproof” with DWTS pros Lacey Schwimmer and Chelsie Hightower. According to ABC, Tayla was born with Primary Immune Deficiency Disease and the Rochester native has spent her entire childhood unable to fight infection, which has led to multiple surgeries, organ failure, and shortened life expectancy. “Despite these insurmountable odds, Kelley has found inspiration and strength to fight this severe, chronic illness through dance since age 2, and was recently recruited by the Timothy M. Draper School of Dance, the training school for the Rochester city Ballet.” Go girl!

Someone goes home: At the end of Tuesday night, we’re going to lose either Chelsea Kane & Mark Ballas, Kirstie Alley & Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Hines Ward & Kym Johnson, or Ralph Macchio & Karina Smirnoff. Hopefully Hines & Kym will be healthy enough to compete at their usual high standard after Kym’s injury. Good luck to everyone!
